Arch Foot Support... Is It For You?
Do you need Arch Foot
Support?
Plantar fasciitis
is the most common reason for
needing Arch Foot Support.
Plantar fasciitis
is known to severely affect the
ability to continue normal daily
activities such as running due to
pain in the heel.
One of the most
common injuries in running is
plantar fasciitis (plantar
fasciitis), which causes pain in the
bottom of the heel. Such repetitive
force as running can cause a tear of
the fascia from the attachment of
the heel. It is important to receive
proper training, wear good running
shoes and to wear an arch support if
you have plantar fasciitis.
Plantar fasciitis
is an inflammation of the plantar
fascia. "Plantar" means the bottom
of the foot; "fascia" is a type of
connective tissue, and "itis" means
"inflammation".
The muscles in
the sole of the foot support the
arch of the foot by connecting the
ball of the foot to the heel. The
inflammation of the plantar fascia
is often caused by walking or
running abnormally and over a period
of time and will increase tension on
the plantar fascia and cause
inflammation. The pain is normally
in the front and bottom of the heel
and described as being a dull aching
pain and is often reproduced by
flexing the toes upward.
Runners are at a
higher risk for plantar fasciitis and
often need arch foot support to
decrease the pain. Common risk
factors include improper training;
rapidly increasing the number of
miles run on a daily basis; running
at an incline; changing the duration
or intensity; wearing running shoes
that do not have enough arch foot
support or cushioned sole.
Heel pain can be
caused by being overweight. If the
heel pain is not treated, plantar
fasciitis can become long-term and
could eventually cause the patient
to have to undergo surgery.
Recommended treatment includes rest;
stretching the calf muscles several
times throughout the day; stretching
the plantar fascia immediately upon
waking; ice after running; weight
loss; taping the heel; night splints
and arch foot support.
The arch foot
support is a device that has been
designed to restore your natural
foot function. The arch foot support
is able to give you more weight
distribution, restore natural foot
function and provide some shock
absorption to decrease the pain
associated with plantar fasciitis.
So is it for you...
only you can answer that
question... but you might consider
checking out an arch foot
support and see if it helps
to relieve some of your foot pain.
